PREPARATION
FOR OPERATION
Prior to starting the motor check the rotor for free turning by hand.
Start the motor at no load to check the condition of its mechanical part
( check for knocking, vibration, etc.) and sense of rotation. To alter
the sense of rotation it is sufficient to interchange places of any two
current-carrying leads. Prior to mounting clean the motor from dust and
remove slushing grease surfaces. For the purpose make use of rags moistened
with kerosene or gasoline. The motor must be reliably coupled to the driven
mechanism to ensure normal transmission of rotary motion and properly
fixed in position to prevent shocks and vibrations. To this end, mount
the motor on a rigid foundation. The motor may be mounted on the body
of the driven mechanism. When this is the case, take measures to ensure
that the vibration speed of the unit at the joint ( at the motor foot
or flange) is not to exceed the specified value. For the purpose, reinforce
the driven mechanism body, reduce its unbalance, mount the motor or the
whole unit on shock absorbers. Bear in mind that excessive thrust cause
rapid wear of the bearings.
