CONDITION CHECKS
Prior to mounting the motor or after a long period of storage or downtime,
check insulation resistance of the motor windings rated for up to 500
V using a 500 V meager. If insulation resistance of the windings is below
0.5 MW , subject the motor to drying. The drying can be done with short-circuit
current by connecting the motor with the locked rotor to a reduced voltage
(10-15% of the rated value) or by external heating using lamps, heating
ovens, etc. When drying, the stator winding temperature should be gradually
raised to the maximum tolerable value of +100° C. The drying is considered
finished when insulation resistance of the windings relative to the frame
and winding-to-winding has risen to 0.5 MW and further drying for 2-3
h does not increase the resistance.
