DESIGN AND OPERATION
Each motor consists of the following basic parts a: stator, rotor, endshields, entry gear (terminal box), fan impeller and a cowl. The stator is essentially a frame with a press - fitted wound stator core. The frame is cast of high-strength aluminum alloy integral with the terminal box. The frame is round and is provided with vertical/horizontal ribs. The stator core is made up of electrical steel laminations. The winding of the stator is mush, made of enameled copper wire. The winding in the slots is insulated from the magnetic circuit by means of gaskets and impregnated with varnishes. Insulation materials used in the motors are of heat resistance class B to GOST 8865-87 for the basic versions and class F to GOST 8865-87 for the tropicalized versions. The rotor pack is poured with primary aluminum. The endshields are made of high-strength aluminum alloy thanks to which there is no necessity to reinforce the bearing seats with steel bushings. The endshields have no ribs on the outside. The front and rear endshields are fully unified and interchangeable (for makes IMI08I and IMI082). The endshields are secured on the stator in three points by means of bolts and embedded nuts. The bearing seat at the drive side is furnished with one spring ring which precludes wedging of the rotor caused by thermal elongation of the shaft in operation and serves to dampen vibrations and to improve operating conditions of the bearings. Used in the motors are antifriction radial ball bearings of narrow light series, of single-row double-sealed, oiled-for-life type. The bearings are press - fitted into the shaft by heating or by vibration using a special facility. The terminal box (entry gear) consists of a terminal block, a union gear and a lid. Power can be supplied to the motors from two opposite sides. For this purpose the terminal box has two holes to secure the unions. The union should be installed at the side of the supply cable, and the opposite hole of the terminal box should be stopped with a blind nut. Such a construction of the entry gear provides for most convenient connection of the supply cable. Plastic parts are widely used in the motors: the parts of the union gear and the fan are made of plastic. The fan cowl is a seamless part made of sheet steel or plastics. Cooling of the motors ICO141 to GOST 20459-75. The motors are designed for continuous operation (S1 to GOST 183-74).
